Red’s Southern Diner
One day back in December we received a phone call from a chicken. That's right, a chicken. A mysterious fowl who refused to give us his name. Luckily, my caller ID told me his name was Red. Red spoke in a series of methodical, yet deliberate clucks complimented by a fine southern accent. Occasionally he would pause as he drew sweet southern tobacco smoke from his e-cigar.
I finally got up the nerve to ask him if he’d be willing to facetime with me. He agreed. There he was, Red, a 6 foot tall chicken with a hand rolled e-cigar and a picture of Kernel Sanders hung upside down on the wall next to him. The room was dimly lit and filled with smoke as if he’d been sitting there for hours. All I could make out was his profile but I knew this chicken meant business.
Awkward silence sets in. In an attempt to break the ice I ask him “so uh, why do chickens have wings if they don’t really fly?” More silence. More smoke. I continue nervously, “so either mother nature was drunk that day or evolution is a son of a…” I’m suddenly interrupted. “Cluck cluck cluuuck cluck CLUCK cluck,” and just like that the conversation was over. My heart was pouding.
Turns out Red is opening a new restaurant in Edmond, Oklahoma and he needed the best dang visual media company to produce the best dang web presence around. So we pulled out our cameras, called our partners over at Studio FJ and made the best dang website around. We never heard from Red again but his restaurant has become a smashing success.
