Chesapeake Energy Christmas Lights

So I saw that Chesapeake's social media team tweeted everyone to post pictures of the Chesapeake Christmas lights on their Facebook page. So I tweeted back "why don't you make it a photo contest?" to which they replied "At the suggestion of Facebook fan Cooper Ross, this is now officially a Holiday Lights Photo Contest. Best photo wins a CHK Christmas ornament!". My folks recently came out to visit us from their home in Tennessee and they were blown away with the Christmas lights at Chesapeake. I remember being really impressed the first time I saw them, too. If you think about it, they really are doing a great service to our city. People who come to visit are blown away with that campus this time of year and it leaves a lasting impression. Combine that with all the other great things happening in our city and all of the sudden they are going back to their state telling all their friends and colleagues how cool Oklahoma City is.
If you've ever taken pictures of Christmas lights before you know how challenging it can be. Smaller cameras tend to have autofocus problems and usually overcompensate the ISO making the picture look a bit grainy and even with a DSLR it's really easy to blow out the lights. I really wanted to take a set of photos that showed how magnificent these lights are so other people around the country could experience them, too. I'm not sure when the official contest is over but I have a two year old who is anxiously awaiting that ornament so she can pull it off the tree and smash it to pieces.
UPDATE: We won the competition!
